Thomas Tyrrell
I live in Cardiff, where I have recently finished my doctoral thesis on eighteenth-century poetry. I won the second prize for poetry in 2017, and my work has appeared in Lonesome October and Words for the Wild.. His winning entry is a poem entilled ‘Sometims in Summer’.

Katya Johnson

I am a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at Aberystwyth University and have lived in mid-Wales since 2015. The coastal village in which my story is set, Borth, is now my home. My creative and critical work has been published by a number of Welsh publishing platforms including Poetry Wales and The New Welsh Review. I am currently working towards the submission of my doctoral thesis, a novelisation of Welsh community life, and a work of historical fiction West is Best,  based on the counter-cultural migrations to West Wales in the 1970s. Her winning entry is a story entitled ‘Silver Darling’.

Michael Muia
I am a former member of the Welsh Guards, serving in Bosnia and Afghanistan. I am now a first year History and Creative writing student at Wrexham's Glyndwr University. This story is the first piece I've written that I have extensively re-written and edited. I am working on a novella and I have several scripts, for both screen and stage in various stages. His winning entry is a story entitled ‘Young Tommy’.
